
The department of Town and Country planning regulates the development and also check the haphazard development in and around towns in accordance with the following statues;-
- The Punjab scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Unregulated Development Act 1963
- The Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act , 1975
- The Punjab New ( Capital) Periphery Control Act , 1952
In order to involve the private sector in the process of urban development, the department grants licenses to the private colonizers / institutions for development of Residential , Commercial . Industrial , Institutional and IT Park / SEZ in accordance with the provisions of Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas act 1975 .
Almost 25 % of the land is under state control and its mandatory to get license for its use . The Land applied for license should be in conformity with the Land use plan and permissible uses as defined in the Zoning regulations of the Development Plan Published / Approved for the controlled area Under the Govt .
For starting any commercial , constructional or educational activity, one requires clearance for its authorized usage
